I am first off, not a professional dog trainer, I have had no professional lessons.  Everything I know of is from personal experience and over 40 years of owning various breeds, from mutts to pure breeds.

My library consists of over 100 dog books, written by various authors and some ranging back to the 1800's.  A lot of the methods are outdated in some of these books, but every once in awhile you come upon a hidden gem, that still never goes out of style and still ring true in todays age.

The purpose of this blog, aka website is to share some of that knowledge with others who might be struggling with training their dogs, or others who might just want to expand their knowledge.

I don't give advice on various training methods, so don't ask.  There are other websites, whose authors are more knowing in various methods than myself.  My only advice to anyone struggling with any training, is to find a professional trainer who is also well versed in dog behavior.  This might be difficult to do, as a lot of individuals are taking various online courses, and then claiming to be a dog trainer, just because they paid money and took a few online courses.  My advise is to find a trainer, who you trust, who will work with various methods to correct your dog.  Too many these days have a sense of their way is the only way.  This is false.

Please read through the first few posts, to get an idea of what my own personal opinion is.  I will not argue over this, because first I'm old and set in my ways, and secondly I learn new things everyday.  Sometime I drop a training method, because it has proven to myself to be harmful, sometime I gain a training method, because that is how a particular dog learns.
