AKC NOVICE TRICK DOG

10 Tricks are required, CGC certificate (counted as 5 tricks). You do not have to have a CGC, but it is greatly encouraged. If a CGC is not applicable, then a total of 10 tricks from the list below must be preformed. Again, go to the AKC Trick dog page for more information on getting evaluated and rules and regulations.
For the Novice title, handlers may use a food/toy lure if needed. May use food/clicker reinforcers.
- Balance Beam- Walk on a board a few inches off the floor.
- Bark on cue- Speak
- Crawl- Dog on belly, crawls at least 3 body lengths.
- Fetch- Ball, toy, from 10 feet away bring to handler within 2 feet.
- Find it- Find treat or scent item hidden under 1 cup or object.
- Get it- Get a named object, such as get your leash, or get your binky toy.
- Get in- Gets into a box.
- Sits in- Sits in a box.
- Get on- Gets on a low platform or step all four paws.
- Hand signal- Choose from sit, down, or come.
- High five- Dog raises paw to slap your hand.
- Hold it- Holds an object in mouth for 3 seconds.
- Jump- Jumps through a low hoop or over a low bar not exceeding 12 inches in height.
- Kennel up- Go into crate, stay until released.
- Kiss- either cheek or back of hand.
- Paws up- Two front paws on a low stool or step.
- Puppy push ups x 3- Sit, down, sit, down, sit , down.
- Shake hands- Dog gives you his paw.
- Spin in a circle- Dog makes a complete circle, as in chase your tail.
- Touch- Target hand or a target stick with nose or paw.
- Tunnel- Straight tunnel.
